Art to me is a tool for expression, communication, and storytelling in a timeless manner. It is a global language articulating ideas and messages through the use of icons. Art is a portrayal that can be ambiguous or humorous using forms, colors, visual stimulation and aesthetics.
In perhaps a more meaningful sense, art can almost be a religious experience-- pure and visionary. It allows the viewer to enter a realm. This is the therapeutic use of art; inner exploration. I’m very interested in the mystical potential of art, the potential of gaining some enlightenment through artistic creation. The use of visionary art is to transcend the physical world and portray spiritual or mystical awareness or wisdom, or is based in such experiences. Art can induce within the viewer an elevated state wherein spiritual mindsets are reached. The process of creating holds the potential of transcending the limitations of the mind and expressing the inner divinity, or “opening the third eye” as some like to say. To me this is the goal I reach toward when I put brush to canvas or pen to paper and I allow things to happen and decisions to be made naturally.
Art is bringing to surface the inner workings of a person, their fingerprints, but not just in a literal sense. I mean it exhibits a style that is unique to the creator and makes their personalized mark visible. It’s a way of transforming the inner tastes and experiences of a person into a concrete body of work which is then able to be shared with the world. Art is the introvert/ eccentric’s answer to a conversation with the general public.

I work with local suppliers to source the wool, gemstones, and sediments that go into my sculptures and paints. My creations are full of spirit—from the fingerprints in the clay, to the beautiful imperfections that put passion and care into every single piece of art I make.
